Dangerous goods regulation

This course will guide you through all the aviation safety topics to support you in performing job tasks related to dangerous goods transportation by air in full compliance with the normative regulations. Every employee working in the aviation field needs to be aware of the nature of hazardous goods, their potential for causing harm, and how they have to be dealt with. It is designed by IATA's last DGR edition. We highly recommend purchasing the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) Manual for reference purposes in your daily work and active participation in the training activities. The course is practically oriented, focused on individual work, group activities, and working with instructors to review all exercises and real case studies. The instructor provokes discussion and keeps participants involved, as sharing knowledge and experience is highly valuable in training.

Acquired knowledge, skills and competencies by the learner after completing the training course:

  • Recognition of dangerous goods, including no-fly, permitted by transfer as cargo subject to the rules for the safe carriage of dangerous goods by air, excluded/exempted from the regulations for the safe carriage of dangerous goods by air – fully or partially
  • Recognition of the nine classes of dangerous goods;
  • Considering the list of hazardous goods and applying the information it contains;
  • Recognition and determination of the labels and markings for the relevant dangerous goods;
  • Applying IATA DGR rules correctly;
  • Knowledge of the origins of the current rules and will be aware of the background knowledge.
  • Recognition and identification of dangerous goods packaging and their specification
  • Recognition of possible hidden dangerous goods
  • Knowledge of loading and storage procedures
  • Adequate response according to emergency procedures
  • Application of the IATA rules for the safe carriage of dangerous goods by air by the requirements

The training is based on different training methods such as simulations, exercises, work with peers, individual work, case studies, etc., to develop a highly effective training procedure. Finally, the program concludes with reflections on what the participants have learned and an action plan to help them apply the insights they gained during the program.
