Responsibilities: For one of our clients we are looking for Aerodrome Meteorological Observer (AMO). Responsible for the making or meteorological observations as well as hydrological and other geophysical observations related to both air navigation and civil meteorology. General Duties & Responsibilities:  To carry out surface meteorological observations; observe and record the parameters that make up a meteorological message; encode the observations in the standard format; transmit coded information.  Perform and record routine and non-routine observations at fixed intervals of the weather conditions for civil and aeronautical purposes, including significant weather phenomena as defined in ICAO Annex 3.  Interpret automatic observed parameters to ensure that observations remain representative of local conditions when differences occur between automatic sensor technologies and manual observing techniques.  Make special weather observations whenever specified changes occur in respect of surface wind, visibility, runway visual range, present weather, clouds and / or air temperature.  Ensure that observations are prepared and issued in accordance with ICAO Annex 3, WMO-No.49, regional and national formats, codes and technical regulations on content, representativeness, and timelines.  Analyse observations in the local area and be in a position to identify probable significant changes in weather at the Airport Weather Station; know and understand the region-specific weather phenomena; be aware of likely weather sequences that are expected to affect airport operations and civil climate.  Check and confirm the quality of meteorological observations before issuance, including relevance of content, time of validity and location of phenomena.  Distribute data and information; disseminate messages to users; issue routine and non-routine reports in accordance with normal working practice; answer questions from users.  Ensure that all observations are disseminated through the authorized communication means and channels to designated user groups. Aeronautical meteorological data and information must be in a clear and concise manner using suitable terminology.  Alert forecasters to the observed or imminent significant changes in the weather within the local and airport area in particular to the characteristics, occurrence and effects of meteorological hazards to aviation, including low-level cloud ceiling, poor visibility, thunderstorms and associated phenomena.  Carry out routine checks on the Automatic Weather Station networks. Maintain automated weather stations watch on the website and internal Systems.  Raise Occurrences in relation to faulty equipment/ liaise with designated contractors.  Check the availability on the Pilot Briefing systems for Malta International Airport and other airports data and retrieving missing data with the aid of telecommunications and computer link.  Routinely check the performance of weather instruments and sensors and perform daily pressure checks. To carry out routine Inspection around the aerodrome Met Installations.  Give guidance to meteorological observer trainees.  Make routine weather reports in various meteorological formats, on the MetConsole workstation, record within the Daily Register on the Common Database platform (IMS CLDB) and confirms distribution via AFTN (Telecommunication network).  Check the VOLMET /ATIS Broadcast and amend/correct these broadcasts accordingly.  Checking the website auxiliary pages every 3 hours and update it every 30 minutes with the METAR, or as necessary during each observation and in the event of inclement weather.  Undertake regular training and obtain the necessary certification.  Be available to attend any training or meetings which may be necessary oversees.  Assist and contribute to public events including public/school visits and educational campaigns.  As directed, retain and record climatological data.  To promote a positive image of the organization.  To care for a spotlessly clean environment at MIA premises.  To report shortcomings immediately to the responsible department when noticing them and making sure that action is taken immediately to deal with them.  To conform with the Occupational Health & Safety Authority Act, ACT XXVII of 2000 and all applicable subsidiary legislations.  Any other duty as delegated by the Manager Meteorological Service.  Meet any additional requirements as required through EASA regulations  To perform any other duties and/or related tasks as may be designated by the Organisation from time to time.
