WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN IATA AFRICA AND THE MIDDLE EAST In order to deliver more value to our members and customers, to overcome our unique regional geographical and operational challenges, and to maximize the opportunities we have across the region, we are looking for leadership talent in our Africa and Middle East region. At the moment we are looking for a REGIONAL DIRECTOR, SAFETY AND FLIGHT OPERATIONS (SFO) based out of Amman, Jordan with frequent travel to Johannesburg, South Africa to join as a Leader and Senior Subject Matter Expert who: a) is the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the Safety and Flight Operations (SFO) Headquarter Division b) is accountable for IATA's achievement of SFO divisional targets across the region c) drives mapping of value-add solutions to member and other stakeholder account needs as well as provide intelligence to further enhance IATA solutions and develops the business further. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT (SPOC) FOR HEADQUARTER DIVISION * Act as the regional SPOC between Headquarter and the Region for all Safety and Flight Operations (SFO) matters; Maintain strong functional interface with the SFO Division and benefit from central resources, campaigns, material, competence, events and general support * In alignment with the Regional Vice President, lead target handshake on behalf of the region for Board Monitored Activities (BMAs) and Other Strategic Activities (OSAs) and act as main driver for their delivery

In 2005, we reviewed our organisational design to reduce the number of layers and broaden the span of control. Additionally, we developed a dynamic sales organisation and culture.

In 2006, we consolidated European regional offices into one unique hub and drove staff development from simply training to focus on a leadership & learning role.

Also, in cooperation with Dr. Noel Tichy of the University of Michigan School of Business, we have successfully launched the IATA Change Leadership (ICL) and the IATA Leadership Development Programme (ILDP), which act as incubators for preparing the next generation of IATA leaders.

Additionally, the IATA Internship Programmes (IIP) allows us to attract and develop - on a worldwide basis - the best among young talents interested in joining the air transport industry.
